Funeral held for Baby Noel

Services finally held after long legal battle

The child who was found dead inside a recycling center three months ago was given a proper funeral Saturday.

Hugs, tears and a sense of peace filled the Summit Christian Center Saturday.

Dozens of people showed up for the service, all of them strangers to the little boy once thrown away like trash. Most were there to make sure he wasn't remembered that way.

"It was very touching, very emotional. I'm a mother so it touched my heart, a baby taken so soon and so tragically," said Michelle Ramirez.

"I am very very pleased with the people that attended today. I was actually very surprised, but it's just such an honor and blessing to be here," said Linda Meyer.

Baby Noel was placed in a small white casket with flowers and a teddy bear.

The little boy's body was found inside a duffel bag three months ago at a recycling center on the East Side. His mother was later arrested and charged with capital murder.

Pamela Allen fought to make sure Noel received the burial he deserved.

"I felt so honored for Noel. It is a reflection of how this community wrapped their arms around this baby," said Allen.

Through donations, Allen was able to raise $5,000 to pay for Saturday's funeral services, a burial and a headstone.

Allen said she believes Noel opened the hearts of many people in San Antonio.

Baby Noel's burial is scheduled for Monday.
