Girl, 5, hospitalized after being hit by car on Northwest Side

Victim was on skateboard, possibly lying down

SAN ANTONIO – A 5-year-old girl on Saturday afternoon was hit by a car while she was on a skateboard on the city’s Northwest Side.

The car was backing out of a driveway in the 2800 block of Cotton Hollow when the incident happened. Officers said a family friend was at the wheel and the girl’s mother was in the passenger’s seat.

The girl was on a skateboard, possibly lying down, and appeared to have been hit by the back tire of the vehicle. She was taken to University Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police don’t expect to charge the driver.
