SAN ANTONIO – Crews will begin construction on Phase 1 of the San Pedro Creek revitalization project Wednesday. The San Antonio River Authority will then host a community meeting Thursday to discuss construction schedules, traffic improvement and project details.
Early construction will focus on relocating telecommunication lines from downtown bridges to underneath the creek.

Starting Wednesday, Houston Street from Laredo to Flores streets will be closed, as will two lanes of Commerce.
“On the heels of an amazing community-groundbreaking celebration, the complex construction work of bringing this transformative project to the residents of Bexar County begins,” said County Judge Nelson Wolff. “This is a project that Bexar County is extremely proud of, and one that will enhance quality of life, economic growth and cultural vibrancy to the western part of downtown.”

The goal is to have the first two miles of the project completed by the city’s Tricentennial celebrations.
