SAN ANTONIO – Three people who barged into a Northwest Side apartment early Wednesday morning made a specific demand of a man before shooting and killing him, a witness told San Antonio police.
A preliminary police report said that a woman told investigators she and the victim were watching television inside their third-floor unit at the Alta Roxbury Apartments in the 6200 block of Roxbury Drive around 1 a.m. when three men suddenly kicked in the front door.
The report said the woman told detectives that one of the intruders pointed a gun at her, and that the group demanded that the man give them something. Police said the woman told them she did not know what the item was, but that the victim handed it over to the intruders, the report stated.
One of them then shot the victim, killing him, the report said.
Detectives spent more than four hours at the scene collecting evidence and talking with neighbors.
Roland Aguirre arrived home from work after the shooting. Aguirre said he was shocked to hear about the violence in his building.
"It is surprising because it's real, real quiet here," Aguirre said. "But there have been occasions where -- I don't know what's going on up there -- but you hear a lot of screaming and shouting."
Aguirre said he didn't know the shooting victim personally. Still, he feels as though there may have been a specific motive for the killing.
"Maybe they knew each other, or maybe they were trying to hang around the wrong people," he said.
Police have not established a motive and have not made a positive identification of the victim.
