SAN ANTONIO – Castle Hills police said a tip from a KSAT viewer helped track down a suspect in a hit-and-run last Thursday night.
Police arrested Jose Ricardo Loy Manjaras, 26, for allegedly fleeing after he hit motorcyclist Jose Beltran on Loop 410.
Beltran was rear-ended by an unknown vehicle and thrown to the ground. Moments later, Manjares hit Beltran with his Dodge Neon, throwing Beltran 30 feet in the air, police said.
Danielle Beltran on Wednesday was allowed to see Manjares' car that hit her husband.
"I'm speechless. There's a huge ... I mean, how do you even see through the windshield and keep driving?" she said. "It's shocking. That's shocking."
Castle Hills Police Chief Wayne Davis said a tip from a KSAT viewer helped lead investigators to Manjaras.
"We do know he was scared, and he did mention the fear of being returned to Mexico," Davis said of Manjares' reasoning for not stopping.
Davis said Manjares confessed to the crime and is charged with failure to stop and render aid.
Jose Beltran is still in the hospital Wednesday with a long road to recovery ahead of him. He is scheduled to have his fifth surgery next week.
