Local collector Don Ray Jank files lawsuit naming Phil Collins, others

Jank claims Alamo artifacts were stolen by New World Car Imports salesman

SAN ANTONIO – Noted Alamo fan and British musician Phil Collins was named in a lawsuit by local collector Don Ray Jank, who claims part of Collins' Alamo artifacts collection was stolen from him.

The lawsuit filed Monday in Bexar County names Collins as one of four defendants in the case, though Collins is not accused of stealing the collectibles.

Jank claims the collectibles were stolen from his car which was bought from one of the defendants, New World Car Imports.

The San Antonio Express-News reports the lawsuit alleges a salesman at New World Car Imports went to Jank's home and broke into the vehicle's trunk after disarming it's anti-theft device.

Jank believes that Collins then bought the collectibles without checking who he was buying them from.

The lawsuit seeks damages for negligence, theft, and fraud from those named in the suit.

The artifacts were photographed for the book "The Alamo and Beyond: A Collector's Journey."
