BCSO deputy, 3 others, injured in multi-vehicle crash

NB I-35 near Loop 1604 still closed for crash cleanup, investigation

BEXAR COUNTY – Four people, including a Bexar County Sheriff's Office deputy, were injured in a multi-vehicle accident in South Bexar County early Saturday morning.

The deputy was working an accident involving an 18-wheeler which happened before 5 a.m. on Interstate 35 north near Von Ormy, when a second 18-wheeler came along and was not able to stop.

A sheriff said that driver was going too fast for the weather conditions and plowed into the sheriff's patrol car before hitting another vehicle.

The deputy was inside his vehicle and suffered non life-threatening injuries but the patrol car was totaled.

A man who was involved in the initial crash, either driving the first 18-wheeler or another car, was hit and suffered serious head injuries.

Both that man, and the deputy, along with one of the 18-wheeler drivers were all taken to the hospital.

TxDOT is reporting that the crash has been cleared, but northbound I-35 near Loop 1604 is still closed for cleanup and investigation.
