ELMENDORF, Texas – A Wilson County man was arrested Thursday for a hit-and-run that left two bike riders injured in July.
Damian Rodriguez Perez, 22, was charged with failure to stop and render aid and aggravated assault. Investigators said he crashed into two bicyclists on Old Corpus Christi Road in Elmendorf.

The suspect’s father apparently told detectives that his son was held at gunpoint and was forced to crash into the bicyclists.
The father didn’t believe Perez, and neither did investigators. Detectives eventually pieced together the evidence and arrested Perez for the crime.
