Benjamin Gonzales, 40, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

An investigator with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said two men were lawfully repossessing Gonzales’ van on Stuart Road outside of Elmendorf when he ran after them with an AK-47 assault rifle.

Investigators said Gonzales pointed the gun through the window and told the men to unhook his vehicle or he would kill them.

Witnesses said the suspect fired into the ground several times.

Once deputies arrived, Gonzales barricaded himself inside his home with his wife and three teenage relatives.

A SWAT team eventually got him out on Thursday morning by using tear gas.
