Man shot after disturbance over basketball game

Victim suffers wound to elbow; shooting reported in 1100 block of Old Lake

SAN ANTONIO – A man was shot Sunday night following a disturbance over a basketball game on the city's far West Side.

Police said an argument broke out around 7:45 p.m. at the duck pond in the 1100 block of Old Lake.

The situation calmed down until six of the men involved in the disturbance were driving around the area at 10:06 p.m. and saw one of the men with whom they had argued, police said.

One of the men pulled a pistol and shot the victim once in the left elbow, police said. The victim was taken to University Hospital in good condition, police said.

The driver of the vehicle led police on a short chase before he pulled over, police said. He was arrested on a charge of evading arrest.

The shooter hasn't been identified, police said.
