Man pleads guilty to 2014 capital murder charge

Death penalty no longer option for Cameo Clines

SAN ANTONIO – The death penalty is no longer an option after Cameo Clines took a plea deal Tuesday in his capital murder trial in the 2014 killing of Xavier Cordero.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said Clines and Antoinette Martinez killed Cordero in June 2014.

Clines' mother said her son needs help and is sorry for the pain he caused the victim's family.

"First of all, I (would) like to say sorry to the family for their loss, and I would like to say my son was not in his right state of mind at the time," Leonora Fernandez said.

Clines has also been charged with aggravated assault causing bodily injury.

He will be sentenced Wednesday morning.
