East Side man shot dead at home with family nearby, police say

Child reported hearing noise outside window

SAN ANTONIO – An East Side man has been shot to death at his home, just steps away from his wife and children.

San Antonio police said they're still investigating the reason for the shooting.

Police responded to the home in the 200 block of Marmok just before 4 a.m. Friday.

According to Sgt. Ryan Luza, the victim's wife called 911 after finding him lying on the floor in the hallway, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police said the couple also had several children under the age of ten inside the home with them at the time.

One of those children had heard a noise outside the window and alerted the man to it. Police said at some point after the man went to investigate it, he was shot and fatally wounded.

"We're not sure if this was a home invasion or what," Luza said. "We don't know if he might've known the suspect."

Luza said investigators were not sure right away whether the shooter left the scene in a car or on foot.

The name of the 26-year-old man who was killed hasn't been released yet.
