SAN ANTONIO – UPDATE: The man shot and killed at the Hilltop Oaks Apartments Tuesday has been identified as 36-year-old Isidro Lopez.
ORIGINAL STORY: An argument over drugs turned deadly Tuesday night when a man shot another man at the Hilltop Oaks Apartments in the 6100 block of Ingram Road.
Police are investigating two areas at the complex. One of them is the parking lot where the shooting happened and the other is the apartment where the victim died.
Police said about 6:30 p.m., a man and a woman walked up to a pickup truck with another man and woman inside. An argument broke out, most likely about drugs, and the man in the truck shot the other man.
San Antonio police Chief William McManus said after the man was shot in the upper body, he ran to a nearby apartment, where he collapsed and died.
The couple in the truck fled the scene. Police are actively searching for the shooter.
“I am very confident we'll have that individual in custody before too long,” McManus said.
McManus said the victim and the shooter are men in their 30s. Their identities have not yet been released.
Detectives have interviewed the woman who was with the victim. Police believe she or the victim lived at the apartment complex.
