Police investigating after shooting on far West Side leaves 1 dead

Man shot multiple times

SAN ANTONIO – Police are investigating after one man was shot and killed on the far West Side Friday evening.

The shooting happened at an apartment complex in the 2200 block of Rogers Road about 6:15 p.m.

Police said they aren’t sure what triggered the shooting, but they said the victim was shot multiple times.

The victim was found in one of the breezeways at the complex. Witness said they heard at least four gunshots.

Police said some of the witnesses even rushed to render aid. There wasn’t much they could do for the victim.

Police said they aren’t sure if the victim lived at the complex or was just visiting.

“Right now, (we’re going to) canvass the area for witnesses. We're still waiting on possible cameras in the area and go from there and see what we can come up with. We'll start looking at him and working backwards from his acquaintances and what not,” said Sgt. Mark Hubbard, with the San Antonio Police Department.

Police said they’re searching for a man wearing a blue hoodie. They said he was seen running from the scene and even jumping over a fence toward Rogers Road.

Authorities tried launching a chopper but were unable to due to weather conditions. They will continue investigating.
