Man shot in head on city's West Side identified by family

Pete Segovia, 38, in critical but stable condition

SAN ANTONIO – Family have identified the man shot in the head Sunday morning on the city's West Side as Pete Segovia.

Segovia, 38, is currently in critical but stable condition at University Hospital.

His oldest child, Samantha Quintanar, said the family believes they know exactly how the shooting happened and even the person responsible. However, police haven't provided any additional information.

Officers went to a home in the 900 block of Cecilia Street around 1 a.m. They say the victim was in his backyard when a person shot him and ran away.

Quintanar says a man and woman had been arguing when her father attempted to break up the argument. That's when she says he was shot in his forehead. She's now experiencing a wave of emotions while she waits for her father to wake up.

"Very angry, hurt, scared. I just want to know my dad's OK," Quintanar said. "They're giving us about three days to see if the swelling goes down to see if there's any kind of response."

Segovia is a father of six. He's currently surrounded by family at the hospital while they wait for information from the investigation.
