Multiple rivers, creeks in flood stage after overnight rains

Areas in Wilson County received 10 inches of rain

SAN ANTONIO – Several creeks and rivers across South Texas are in flood stage after heavy rains overnight.

Locations in Wilson County, near Stockdale, picked up nearly a foot of rain in just a few hours.

The San Antonio River in southern Bexar County is expected to crest at nearly 43 feet. That is 4 feet above moderate flood stage. The river is expected to reach minor flooding near Floresville and near Falls City. Further down steam, flood waters from Cibolo Creek will empty into the river near Karnes City. That will cause the river to rise moderate flooding near Runge by Monday morning.

Also in Southern Bexar County, the Medina River, before it merges into the San Antonio River, will crest Sunday afternoon at minor flood stage.

A river flood warning remains in effect for the Guadalupe River in Gonzales. The river is expected to crest later today at 32.5 feet, which is considered minor flood stage.

In Karnes County, Cibolo Creek is currently at major flood stage, and will crest at nearly 30 feet. That is still several feet below previous historic crests of 34 to 38 feet.

These forecasts are subject to change with more rain forecasted Sunday.
