The Frost Tower will be the first office tower built in downtown San Antonio in 27 years.

Frost Tower will be the new headquarters for Frost, a banking and financial company that has been based in downtown San Antonio for almost 150 years.

Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects were selected to design the new tower, with William Butler as the lead designer.

“We are excited to be working on this project, which will be a force of transformational energy in downtown San Antonio,” Butler said. “This design is so important to San Antonio and its downtown, a modern compliment to the masonry towers of the city’s past. We set out to create something iconic and timeless for San Antonio and believe the Frost Tower achieves just that.”

Pelli Clarke Pelli has received hundreds of awards for design excellence, and is known for designing major urban landmarks across the globe.

“We are committed to avoiding formal preconceptions in designs. We believe in creating buildings that meaningfully contribute to the environment they are being incorporated in, and we have designed a building with the needs and aspirations of downtown San Antonio specifically in mind. I believe it will be a beautiful and proud tower,” said Cesar Pelli, founder of Pelli Clarke Pelli.

Groundbreaking for the tower is planned for next winter and construction is scheduled for completion in late 2018.
