North East ISD teacher charged with sexual assault of child

Joseph Sauceda caught by child's mother

SAN ANTONIO – North East Independent School District teacher Joseph Sauceda has been arrested and is facing charges of sexual assault of a child.

Sauceda, who teaches at Oak Grove Elementary, was arrested over the weekend for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl at his home in Medina County.

Medina County Sheriff Randy Brown said the child Sauceda allegedly assaulted did not attend NEISD.

The victim's mother told investigators that she caught Sauceda, who then took off with his two children.

Medina County sheriff's officials tracked Sauceda down four hours later. Brown said Sauceda confessed to the crime and admitted it has happened before.

Sauceda is in the Medina County Jail on a $250,000 bond for sexual assault of a child and $50,000 bond for child endangerment for keeping his sons out in the cold on the night he ran away.

NEISD officials confirmed Sauceda did not assault one of the district's students, but as per protocol, he is being placed on administrative leave and could be fired.
