SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have released preliminary information on a two-vehicle accident that killed one person Sunday.
The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. on Loop 1604 near Hausman Road.

Police say the driver of a Dodge Caravan was traveling south on north Loop 1604, when she crossed into the grassy median. The driver of a Honda Civic tried to avoid the collision but the van hit the car head-on.
Several bystanders tried to perform CPR on the driver of the Civic but he died at the scene. The driver of the Caravan was taken to University Hospital where she remains in the Intensive Care Unit.
Traffic on the main lanes of Loop 1604 was closed for several hours, but reopened Sunday evening.
