Police arrest murder suspect at SE Side H-E-B Plus

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police early Tuesday arrested a man who was wanted in connection with a homicide in October 2016.

According to a preliminary police report, someone reported to police around 11:15 p.m. Monday that Arthur Camacho, 37, was inside an H-E-B Plus in the 4100 block of South New Braunfels.

About 12:35 a.m. Tuesday, police entered the store and covered all exits, the report said.

Camacho, who was armed, ran toward the back of the store and dropped his gun, the report said. He tried to exit the front door when he was met by a K-9. The suspect was apprehended without incident.

Camacho was wanted for a fatal shooting on October 28 in front of a home on the access road of Interstate 35 North near Pine Street, an arrest affidavit said.

Also arrested in connection with the shooting was Vincent Limon, the affidavit said.

Limon and Camacho confronted the victim, Joe Garcia, 47, about a lost dog. The affidavit said that Limon accused Garcia of stealing his dog and breaking into his home. Garcia gave the dog back to Limon, but the two suspects later went back and fatally shot Garcia, the affidavit said. Limon admitted to police detectives that he shot the victim, the affidavit said.

In addition to the outstanding murder charge, Camacho was charged with felony possession of a firearm and theft of a firearm, the report said.

Also arrested in the store were Raymond Anthony Perez, 40, who was charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Mary Alice Tiggs, 41, was charged with hindering apprehension.
