SAN ANTONIO – A Randolph High School student was killed in a crash with a concrete mixer Wednesday morning on the access road of Interstate 10 near Foster Road.
The victim was identified as Chloe Shiverdecker.
San Antonio police spokesman Sgt. Jesse Salame said Shiverdecker had been heading east on the two-way access road around 8 a.m. just before she collided with a westbound concrete mixer.

"For some reason, we don't know why yet, the driver of the SUV crossed over into the oncoming path of the cement truck, and he was unable to avoid the accident," Salame said. "It was almost a head-on collision, and unfortunately the driver of the SUV died at the scene."
The girl's parents, who showed up shortly after the crash, sobbed in the arms of officers.
"She was the lone occupant, the driver of the SUV, and the driver of the cement truck was also alone," Salame said. "(The truck driver) was obviously very shaken up, but he was not physically injured."
The access road was shut down for several hours while police investigated.
There also was a small fuel spill, mostly battery acid from the heavily damaged SUV, Salame said.
"Hazmat came out. I think they did a very quick cleanup and contained the leak to that particular area," he said. The access road reopened by noon.
