Arrest made in capital murder case, more to follow, police say

Carlos Hernandez, 24, linked to double murder on city's East Side

SAN ANTONIO – Carlos Hernandez, 24, has been arrested in connection with a double murder last weekend on the city's East Side. San Antonio police said his is just the first of several arrests expected in the capital murder case.

Hernandez is believed to have been involved in the shooting deaths of Roger Campos, 22, and Charles Krone, 37. Both men were found with gunshot wounds to the head last Saturday night inside a home in the 300 block of Vine Street.

Officer Douglas Greene, a public information officer for the San Antonio Police Department, said it appears that an argument led to the murders.

"We believe that the altercation was possibly over narcotics," Greene said. "And there were some items stolen during the commission of the crime, classifying it as a capital murder."

Greene said detectives were able to identify Hernandez as a suspect fairly quickly, then arrested him around 10:45 p.m. Thursday with the help of the U. S. Marshal's Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. Hernandez was taken into custody after a traffic stop in Converse.

"This investigation is far from being over," Greene said. "We're developing other leads that other people may be involved and we anticipate making more arrests."
