Woman, 26, fatally wounded on East Side identified
Shooting reported at 11 p.m. Wednesday in 1500 block of Hays Street
SAN ANTONIO – UPDATE: The medical examiner identified the woman shot and killed Wednesday as 26-year-old Destiny Ann Marie Garcia.
A 26-year-old woman was shot and killed Wednesday night on the city's East Side.
The shooting was reported just before 11 p.m.in the 1500 block of Hays Street.
Police said they found the victim dead on the sidewalk.
"We are certain that the crime occured at the scene," said police spokeswoman Sandra Pickell. "We did find shell casings."
Two witnesses said they saw a man run northbound on St. Martin Street after they heard the shots fired.
Investigators said they are looking for a man in his mid-20s to early 30s dressed in black.
