Prostitution bust brings down wanted man

Dannie Kindle was one of 281 arrested during prostitution sting

SAN ANTONIO – Operation Cross Country is in its eighth year.

It's carried out in 106 U.S. cities including San Antonio.

Federal, state and local law enforcement target criminals who sexually exploit juveniles and prostitution rings primary through the Internet.

"They were in a undercover capacity or making the arrangement to meet with these prostitutes and then meeting up with them and placing them under arrest," said Sgt. Javier Salazar with the San Antonio Police Department.

Dannie Kindle was one of 281 arrested on pimping charges. Kindle has been wanted since July of last year. He was even featured in KSAT's Crimefighters Day back in February.

His alleged co-conspirator and girlfriend Ugonna Nwogu is also in custody.

"This is somebody that's obviously making a living victimizing people. He's having them prostitute their bodies," said Salazar. 168 trafficking victims were recovered throughout the country.

"Unfortunately many of the people that you see advertised as prostitutes on this some of them may or may not be willing participants in this," Salazar said.

Salazar said women can become easily become prey.

"Some may be running away from some sort of situation -- an abusive relationship, a less than-ideal circumstance," said Salazar.

Kindle is facing promotion of prostitution and drug charges.
