Registration violation leads to chase in SE Bexar County

Eloy Garcia, 31, arrested

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – What started as a traffic stop in China Grove turned into a chase on Bexar County's Southeast Side.

Officer Anthony Martinez, with the China Grove Police Department, said they had initially tried to pull over the driver because of a registration violation, but he didn't stop.

The chase occurred around noon on Monday.

Martinez said when police tried to pull him over at Foster Road and Highway 87, the suspect took off.

"He made his way toward (Loop) 410 south, where we continued the pursuit and eventually made it to this next street over, which is Glasgow," Martinez said. “He then bailed out on foot."

The suspect made his way to the 7800 block of Shetland and ran inside a house, and that is where officers, assisted by Bexar County Sheriff's deputies, took the man into custody, authorities said.

China Grove police said the suspect is Eloy Garcia, 31.

Aside from facing charges of evading arrest, investigators are working to confirm that Garcia has several outstanding warrants.
