SAN ANTONIO – Jake Baine, 19, recalled the moment he learned he snagged the highly sought after videographer position in Busabout’s "Best Job in the World" competition as unreal.
“(It was) 30 seconds of speechlessness and basking in the moment, followed by, I need to get stuff done. I leave so soon," Baine said.
Baine submitted a spectacular entry to Busabout highlighting his beloved hometown — the Alamo City. More than 5,500 people from around the globe applied for the once-in-a-lifetime job opportunity to travel through Europe for five months with all expenses paid.
"I knew the chances were not in my favor because of the odds of winning, but I always had a little bit of hope. Maybe I’ll be that one person. Kind of like when you buy a lottery ticket,” Baine said.
Baine fell in love with making videos after buying a GoPro four years ago. While his passion for film has grown 10-fold, he never imagined it would be taking him around the world.
"I’ve always wanted to go to Santorini just because it looks beautiful and it’s amazing there. I found out we’re going to be sailing across the Greek coast and stopping at islands along the way, I don’t know for how long, but enough to enjoy it all, " Baine said with a smile.
Baine leaves for London on Saturday.
