San Antonians get in Star Wars mood on May the Fourth

SAN ANTONIO – May 4 was Star Wars Day, and whether you embraced the light or the dark side of the Force, San Antonians showed their true colors as fans of the franchise dressed up in their favorite Star Wars gear.

At Mellow Mushroom’s inaugural Star Wars trivia night, Rob Rayfield brought family for the movie franchise’s special day. He and Michael Isenhour are seasoned trivia players. They know the Force is strong with them.

“Hands down, we are huge nerds,” Isenhour said.

“We lived it longer than they have. We would win,” said Suzanne Ledlow.

“I’m a big Star Wars fan, and also, the first movie came out before they were a gleam in somebody’s eye,” said Joe Ledlow.

Special host Megan Hastings said she wished she could play the trivia game. She said people underestimate her skills.

At Big Hops, Star Wars movies played. People who bought the Hop Solo, which was special brewed for the day, got to keep their glass, regardless of their nerf-herder status.

And at Northwest Vista College, a free showing of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” drew large crowds. The crowds of people from the community covered the college’s lawn. Organizers said about 1,300 people attended the screening.
