Francisco Sierra, 20, found shot to death Friday morning

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Police in San Marcos have arrested a suspect in the killing of a Texas State University student found shot death Friday morning.

Police said Francisco Sierra, 20, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in his home at the Villagio Apartments on Aquarena Springs Drive.

San Marcos police said a man called police around 8 a.m. saying that he found his roommate, Sierra, dead.

Texas State's University Star newspaper has reported that Sierra was a student at the university.

The roommate who called police was taken to the police department to be interviewed, along with several other people who were at the apartment.

Police said the roommate, who has not been identified, confessed to shooting and killing Sierra.

Police said the man also told officers he threw the gun in a body of water in a remote location. Officers are searching for the weapon.

The man has been charged with first-degree murder.
