SAPD officer fires gun in home

Officer sent for evaluation

SAN ANTONIO – A 19-year San Antonio police veteran was taken into police custody to be evaluated after he fired a gun in his home late Friday night. 

San Antonio police responded to a disturbance call on the North West side at Nathans Peak and Crystal Moon. 

When police arrived they said they learned someone had fired a gun inside the home. 

According the police, the person who fired the gun was a 19-year veteran of the department. 

He is a detective, police said. 

His wife and child were in the home when the shot was fired but ran across the street, said police.

No one was hurt. 

The officer surrendered to police shortly after they arrived, police said. 

He was taken into police custody to be evaluated.
