SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Police Department on Wednesday released the name of an officer who died in an apparent suicide.
Officer Steven Franco, 38, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head inside a patrol unit around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at Loop 410 and Port Entry on the city's East Side.
Franco, who was in full uniform when he was found, was a 10-year veteran of the department.
The incident is being investigated as an apparent suicide, officials said.
A schedule of memorial services has yet to be released.
