Snapchat unveiled a new feature on Wednesday that allows users to share their location with friends in real time.
While the social giant said it intended on giving users a "a whole new way to explore the world," some are saying the feature, which can be turned on and off, is invasive.

The feature came through in an update Wednesday. With the update, Snapchat users can opt in to Snap Map by pinching their screen which prompts the question: "Who can see my location on the map?"
Users have the ability to share their location with friends, a select group of friends or not at all, using a feature called "Ghost Mode."
After setting up sharing preferences, users can pinch their screen and are able to see where their friends are on a map. Snapchatters can also see locations throughout the world that have featured stories available for viewing.
