Suspect arrested in connection with shooting death at bar

David Hinojosa arrested in slaying of Joseph Torres in August

SAN ANTONIO – A 27-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the shooting death of a 37-year-old man at a bar.

David Hinojosa was apprehended on the city's Southeast Side by the Lonestar Fugitive Task Force on an unrelated warrant.

Hinojosa is scheduled to appear before a magistrate Wednesday afternoon and is expected to be charged with murder.

The suspect is accused of gunning down Joseph Torres on Aug. 14 at The Fabulous Texas Sugartime Bar in the 2700 block of Bill Miller Lane.

Witnesses and surveillance video helped police identify Hinojosa as the suspect in the shooting.

"He was a good man, and no one deserves to go in such a horrific way," Jillian Torres, one of the victim's daughters, said in an interview with KSAT 12 News a few days after the slaying.
