Suspect orders donut, cookie before robbing restaurants, affidavit says

Henry D. Lopez, 39, is charged with robbing a Shipley's Donuts, Jimmy John's

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have arrested a man they say is responsible for two fast-food robberies.

39-year-old Henry D. Lopez is accused of robbing a Shipley's Donuts in the 14000 block of Nacogdoches Road on March 3 and at a Jimmy John's restaurant in the 1700 block of Main Avenue  five days later.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, police said Lopez went into the restaurant with his hands hidden in his jacket sleeves. The affidavit said he ordered a donut then told the clerk to open the cash register or "something bad was going to happen".

The clerk, fearing for safety complied with the demands, the affidavit said. Lopez then left the scene after grabbing the cash.

The second robbery occurred March 8 and in that instance the clerk told investigators that Lopez walked in and picked out a cookie before reaching into the front pockets of his jacket.

The clerk said Lopez pointed an object at him, believing it to be a handgun. The affidavit said Lopez allegedly took the cash and ran to a beige sedan.

Police said Lopez matched the description of the suspect in a string of robberies and that his vehicle matched the description given to them by the victims.

Lopez is charged with two counts of robbery.
