SAN ANTONIO – A SUV driven by a 38-year-old woman crashed into a utility pole that caused a power outage to a hotel Tuesday morning on the city's Southeast Side.
Police said the woman was driving southbound on an Interstate 37 access road near SE Military Drive around 7 a.m., when her SUV crashed into a perimeter fence at the Fairfield Inn and Suites.
The woman apparently suffered a seizure, police said. She was transported to a hospital in stable condition and was expected to recover.
The hotel lost power and didn't have a generator for backup electricity, police said. Damage from the crash was estimated to cost $10,000.
CPS Energy, which is short staffed while dealing with outages caused by Monday night's storms, said the hotel will probably not have power back until 4 p.m.
Most hotel guests had already left for the day, and others were being relocated upon request, hotel staffers said.
