Shooting occurred Tuesday in 400 block of Brookview Dr

SAN ANTONIO – A teenager was taken to an area hospital after being shot overnight, San Antonio police said Wednesday.

The shooting occurred just before 10 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Brookview Drive, found on the city's North Side.

Police said when they arrived someone had already taken the injured teen to Methodist Hospital.

A witness told police that they heard gunshots and then went into the backyard to find the victim shot.

The victim told police he was in his backyard when he saw somebody by their boat which was parked in a nearby alley. The teen said he asked the guy what he was doing and was suddenly shot by the suspect.

The teen was hit in the abdomen and the wound is non-life threatening, police said.

The only description of the suspect the teen was able to give was a male with short hair and a blue shirt. The suspect remains at large.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
