Texas most-wanted sex offenders arrested in SA

Jesse Cruz Jr., 49, captured Aug. 27

SAN ANTONIO – A man who was on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender list was arrested last week in San Antonio. Jesse Cruz Jr., 49, was wanted for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

The arrest was made Aug. 27 by members of the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division, San Antonio Police Department and the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. He was taken into custody without incident.

DPS said Cruz was convicted in 1993 of indecency with a child by sexual contact after an incident in Bexar County involving a 12-year-old girl. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the offense.

Cruz's arrest came as a result of a tip. DPS said a reward of up to $3,000 will be paid.
