SAN ANTONIO – A massive storage unit burglary left two upset families asking for the public's help. One of the victims told KSAT he just wants the thieves and the things they stole to be found.
There were three thieves, three break-ins and thousands of dollars in losses.
"They started Wednesday the 17th and on the 19th and on the 20th," said German Navarro, whose father owns one of the units that was burglarized.
Both units were inside a gated property at the Lockaway Storage on Loop 1604 and O'Connor Road.
Navarro's father uses the unit as a studio for his band. The equipment stolen from his unit was very valuable.
"Two guitars, one Fender special edition from Corona, California, -- they don't make those anymore -- another Fender, a PA system, a couple microphones and just cables," Navarro said.
He said the special edition guitar is a big loss.
"My mom gave it to him as an anniversary gift. It was a special guitar for him," he said.
Navarro feels even worse for the man who has the unit connected to his father's.
"He got pretty much washed out," he said.
He's a U.S. Marine veteran, who had his unit packed with military gear, expensive electronics, clothes and furniture.
Police believe it was one man and two women who made off with all the stolen items in the bed of a white Dodge Ram single cab.
Navarro took pictures of the surveillance video captured on the property.
"If I can prevent this from happening to anyone else, that'd be more than great," Navarro said.
He said his family has had a unit at Lockaway Storage for four years now, and have never had a problem. He said he heard the suspects used someone's name and pass code to get in the gates. A Lockaway Storage PR representative said that's a common strategy for storage unit thieves.
The veteran whose unit was burglarized has been printing out fliers with pictures of the suspects and a list of what they allegedly stole. He's been handing them out at pawn shops in hopes of getting his things back.
