NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – New Braunfels police are searching for victims of a local scam artist to come forward.
Police said Christopher Lee Dickey, 43, of San Antonio, went to several New Braunfels restaurants claiming the businesses owed him money.

Dickey claimed, on several occasions, that a server spilled something on him during a visit and then presented fraudulent "proof" of his dry cleaning expenses, requesting a reimbursement for cleaning costs or for replacement of clothing. Numerous businesses gave him cash or gift certificates.
According to the New Braunfels Police Department, Dickey visited at least three restaurants on Tuesday with the claims. When he returned to one of the restaurants Wednesday to claim his money, detectives arrested him and took him to the Comal County Jail.
Dickey is charged with theft and possession of a controlled substance for allegedly having cocaine on him at the time of arrest.
Police said there may be more restaurants in New Braunfels and the surrounding area that may have been scammed. Detectives are asking anyone who believes they may have been victim to Dickey's scam to preserve any evidence available and call police at 830-221-4165.
