Warning: More snakes expected to be out this summer

Displaced snakes looking for hiding spots after heavy flooding

SAN ANTONIO – In South Texas, it is not unusual to see a snake, but experts believe the recent weather events have flushed snakes out of their habitat and into more populated areas.

Right now, there is no increase of snake bites being reported, but experts say the public needs to be on high alert this year.

In our area, the four common venomous snakes are: diamondback rattlesnakes, cotton-mouths, copperheads and coral snakes.
