Far West Side woman charged with murdering boyfriend

Laura Flores-Messick, 30, accused of shooting, stabbing man

SAN ANTONIO – A Far West Side woman is accused of shooting and stabbing her boyfriend, then leaving him to die.

Laura Flores-Messick, 30, was arrested Sunday on a murder charge.

San Antonio police found out about the death Saturday, after receiving a call from the mother of Chason Montez-Deoca, 40, the victim in the case.

They found the victim's body inside his home in the 7600 block of Muleshoe Lane.

An arrest warrant affidavit said that the mother told police she had received a phone call from her son, who told her he had been arguing with Flores-Messick. She said during the conversation, she could hear the suspect yelling in the background and making threats against him.

The affidavit said that when investigators questioned Flores-Messick about the killing, she confessed. It said that she told them while she was shooting Montez-Deoca, she was thinking, "what a jerk he is" and "what an (expletive) he is."

She told detectives that when she left the scene she did not know if the victim was dead, and she did not report harming him because she feared she'd be charged with murder, the affidavit said.
