Woman sentenced to 25 years for fatally shooting ex-husband

Noelia Lozano argued with Randall Lozano over text messages from his girlfriend

SAN ANTONIO – A judge sentenced a 42-year-old woman Thursday to 25 years in prison for fatally shooting her ex-husband over text messages from his girlfriend.

Noelia Lozano pleaded guilty on March 30 to shooting her ex, Randall Lozano, with a shotgun several times in the chest in December 2015 at her apartment in the 5500 block of TPC Parkway. The couple's daughter, who was 11 years old at the time, witnessed the shooting.

By pleading guilty, Lozano allowed District Judge Sid Harle to decide her punishment.

The defendant pleaded for mercy from Harle.

"I know what I did was wrong and I lost my family," Lozano said. "I'm begging you, please, don't let my youngest one go without both parents for so long."

But Sabrina Lozano, the defendant's oldest daughter, said during a victim impact statement that the shooting tore their family apart and they will always be in mourning.

Randall Lozano "was the one who motivated us to be as successful as he envisioned us to be, which is more than you thought of for ourselves," she told her mother.
