Woman sitting in SUV shot on city's West Side

Police said men tried to rob woman

SAN ANTONIO – A woman on the city's West Side is recovering from a gunshot wound to the arm.

The shooting happened at a shopping strip in the 300 block of Enrique M. Barrera Parkway at about 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say the victim was inside her white Ford Explorer when she was approached by the suspects.

"The victim was sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle, behind us, waiting for her husband to come out of the store, when somebody came up on her, pulled open the doors and said, ‘Give me what you got,’" Sgt. Thomas Haymaker said.

The woman was shot and rushed to the hospital. She is expected to be OK.

"I think it happened so quickly that she didn't know what had happened," Haymaker said.

Police said the suspects drove off in a black Dodge Charger and later dumped the vehicle in a South Side neighborhood.

Police believe there are four suspects and as of Tuesday night, they had at least two in custody.
