Woman works to honor abandoned baby

Pamela Allen raising money for baby's headstone

SAN ANTONIO – Pamela Allen isn't giving up on her efforts to honor Baby Noel, the newborn strangled and found left in a recycling plant the week before Christmas in 2014.

Since that time, Allen has stepped in and spent months working to convince the medical examiner and a judge to allow her to bury the baby. Allen managed to get the baby buried at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.

Allen told KSAT 12 that despite helping to bury Baby Noel, she still felt something was missing. What was missing was a headstone.

On Tuesday, Allen received a random phone call from a woman who found her through a nonprofit called "Eagles Flight."

"I know this is gonna sound so random, but I need to ask you -- could you use a headstone?" the caller asked.

Allen is driven in her efforts on Baby Noel's behalf.

"I know this is what I'm supposed to do," Allen said. "I know this is where God has called me to be."

Allen is quick to help all who cross her path. She is a church minister who works with special-needs children. Her home and property in Boerne are filled with rescue animals Allen uses to provide therapy.

Getting Baby Noel buried and securing a headstone isn't the end for Allen.

"I'd like to make sure that we finish what we've started," she said. "Our goal now is to get this stone etched and to see if someone would help us get it cleaned and etched with Baby Noel's name."
