Forrest Whitley excited to be back in Texas

SAN ANTONIO – Forrest Whitley is coming back to San Antonio!

Earlier this month, the hard-throwing right-hander was promoted to AA in Corpus Christi. He’s scheduled to face the San Antonio Missions on Monday in the series finale between the Missions and Hooks.

Whitley told KSAT 12 Sports that he will come out of the bullpen and pitch every fourth day. Before that, he’s scheduled to make his Whataburger Field debut Thursday in front of family and friends.

The Alamo Heights alum said he had so many ticket requests that he, unfortunately, couldn’t accommodate them all. Still, the 19-year-old said he is excited to pitch in front of his parents.

“It’s going to be awesome just knowing how proud they are and how supportive they still are of me,” Whitley said. “I’m bouncing around from Iowa to North Carolina to back in Texas, and they’ve just shown me nothing but love and so much support. I couldn’t be more thankful for all of that.”

The Houston Astros selected Whitley 17th overall in the first round of the 2016 MLB draft.
