Former Dallas Cowboys all-pro DeMarcus Ware announces retirement

Ware is Cowboys all-time leader in sacks

DALLAS – Former all-pro Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware posted on Twitter that he is retiring from the NFL following a 12-year playing career.  

Ware was named to nine pro bowls and seven first or second NFL All-Pro teams.

Ware was drafted in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Cowboys and spent nine successful seasons in Dallas.

He is the Cowboys all-time leader in sacks, with 117, and the franchise’s all-time leader in forced fumbles, with 32.

Ware left Dallas as free agent in 2014 and played three more seasons with the Denver Broncos.

He was part of a Denver defense that led the Broncos to a Super Bowl 50 championship in 2015.

Ware finishes eighth all-time in sacks, with 138.5, and led the NFL in sacks in 2008 and 2010.
