1 killed, several injured in North Side chase, crash

Crash reported on Vista Valet near Wurzbach Parkway

SAN ANTONIO – One person was killed and two others were critically injured in a crash Tuesday morning on the city's North Side that police said began with a confrontation that led to a chase.

Police said the occupants in two cars were involved in an altercation in a parking lot at Blanco Road and West Avenue.

The driver of a white car got scared and took off, but was chased by another car when the second car crashed into a tree at Vista Valet near Wurzbach Parkway, police said.

A passenger in the back seat was killed. The driver and a front seat passenger had to be extracted out of the car and taken to University Hospital in critical condition, police said.

A fourth person escaped the wreckage and sought help by knocking on doors at a nearby apartment complex.

The car that was being chased hit a curb and crashed, police said. The driver and a passenger suffered minor injuries.

A handgun and a shotgun were found in the car that crashed into the tree, police said.

Police said the altercation may have been the result of a robbery attempt.
