SAPD respond to 2 separate rollover accidents

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police had their hands full Friday night into Saturday morning after two separate rollover accidents caused a mess on the roadways.

The first accident happened Friday around 11 p.m. at Buena Vista and South Calaveras streets.

According to police, the driver of a Mustang ran several lights before hitting a van and causing it to flip over.

The driver of the van was taken to the hospital to be checked out, while the driver of the mustang took off on foot.

Police are still looking for that driver.

The second accident happened around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, when a man in his 20s fell asleep at the wheel.

It happened on Loop 1604 near Blanco Road. Police said the driver dozed off and slammed into a wall.

The car then drove up the wall before the car flipped on its side. An officer who saw the wreck had to break the windshield to pull the driver out.

The driver was taken to University Hospital in stable condition.
