2 injured in Boerne ISD school bus crash

Wet roads blamed for crash on Ralph Fair Road near I-10

SAN ANTONIO – A Boerne Independent School District school bus toppled onto its side on a rain-slickened road Wednesday morning in northwest Bexar County.

Bexar County Sheriff's Office spokesman James Keith said a bus monitor and the bus driver were injured in the crash at 7:30 a.m. at Ralph Fair Road near Interstate 10. Both suffered minor injuries.

Two special-needs students on the bus weren't injured, Keith said. One of the students attended Champion High School and the other Boerne Middle School South. Their parents picked them up.

Keith said the bus fishtailed and went off the road before landing on its side.

"We are looking into whether speed may have been a factor, (but) wet roads are the primary reason this crash happened," Keith said.

The bus was quickly set upright and removed from the side of the road.
