Man accused of shooting at van, leading deputies on pursuit remains on the run; woman detained

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Authorities are looking for a man they say led deputies and Elmendorf police on a chase in southeast Bexar County following a shooting.

Investigators with the Wilson County Sheriff's Office said the shooting stemmed from a road-rage incident off FM 1353 between people in two vans. They said a person in one van fired several shots at the driver of the other van.

The victim had minor injuries, but investigators said he is lucky to be alive. One bullet grazed the man's ear, investigators said.

Officials said the victim followed the shooter's van before authorities intervened. Deputies with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office and Elmendorf police located the van and pursued it along Loop 1604 and I-37 before crashing on Donop Road near Southton Road.

Authorities said two people jumped out of the shooter's van. Deputies and police were able to detain a woman.

“We’re going to pursue with charges. Wilson County Sheriff's (Office) will (pursue charges) on the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Then I will contact Elmendorf and Bexar County to see if they are going to file charges for evading and fleeing," said Richard Nichols, a Wilson County Sheriff's Office investigator.

No weapon was found in the van.

The search for the man at large is expected to resume Thursday. Investigators said he is slim with black hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
