Berths at the Class 5A Regional meet were on the line on Saturday morning, as area swimmers from Medina Valley, San Antonio Great Hearts Monte Vista, Great Hearts Northern Oaks, Cole, Southwest, Southwest Legacy, and Uvalde dove into the pool at NISD Natatorium for the District 29-5A Swimming & Diving Championships.
Annual Peanut Butter Bowl expands to 10 games, 20 high school football teams in 2021
The annual Peanut Butter Bowl, held in every high school football season since 2016 as a food drive to collect peanut butter and combat chronic hunger, has expanded to 10 games and 20 different teams this season including a pair of Austin schools.

The second week of the 2021 high school volleyball season ratchets up the intensity. Carlee Pharris and the Brandeis Broncos rolled past Antonian in front of a raucous home crowd, while Clark, Churchill and Edison all earn impressive sweeps over Harlan, Taft and Southside respectively.
VOLLEYBALL HIGHLIGHTS: Stevens, McCollum and Harlandale earn victories in tournament play
At the end of the first full week of the 2021 high school volleyball season, McCollum hosted an eight-team tournament where the Cowboys, Stevens Falcons and Harlandale Indians all earned dramatic three-set victories over Holmes, Marshall and East Central respectively.
Whataburger employee at New Braunfels location tests positive for COVID-19
SAN ANTONIO A Whataburger restaurant in New Braunfels closed for a day after the company learned of an employee who received a presumed positive diagnosis of COVID-19. The employee works at the Whataburger located at 123 Creekside Crossing. According to a company statement, the restaurant closed Friday for a thorough deep cleaning by a third-party vendor immediately after the employees diagnosis. The employee has not been in the restaurant since May 19, according to the statement.
